Ken Datugan, Artistic Director/Choreographer was born in Bataan, Philippines and raised in Long Beach, CA where he found his passion for dance while in high school. In 2002, Ken received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from California Institute of the Arts under Doug Nielsen, Laurence Blake, Larry Keigwin and many others. Ken performed for a myriad of theatre productions and companies, with formally known The CIAGIO COLLECTIVE under Rande Dorn, The John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, with The Rai Aoo’s Dance Planet Company, Highway Performing Arts Center with The Big Show Company, Artistic Director Arianne McBean and The Diavolo Dance Theatre under the direction of Liz Hoefner. In 2007, Ken began exploring the world of film as a choreographer and dancer. He completed the choreography of “Dandelion Dharma” a SAG film project with W.F.A. writer/director Veronica DiPippo and in Julie Dameron and Erik Call in their musical film production “GLEE!” Ken also danced for a spec-Dr. Pepper commercial under the direction of Kerry Bellessa. DatuganDanceTheatre, with the help of dancers Kirstyn Lazur and T-Bob Bodin, was launched in 2008 and successfully premiered production of “In Circles” 2008 and “By Numbers” 2010 at StudioADance in Silver Lake, CA. Ken continues to strive to improve his artistic expression and develop depth in his work.
